BELFAST tech firm Neurovalens has launched its new sleep improvement device on a crowdfunding platform.
Modius Sleep is a headset that sends an electrical pulse into the vestibular nerve, that helps influence the parts of the brain that control sleep patterns.
The company has now launched the device on US crowd-funding website Indiegogo.

Dr Jason McKeown, founder and chief executive of Neurovalens

Founded by Dr Jason McKeown in 2015, Neurovalens previously raised £2 million on the same platform for its weight loss device, Modius Slim.
Last month the company received £750,000 from the Growth Finance Fund to help launch the new sleep product in the US.
The device is being sold in the US for $250 via Indiegogo, with longer term plans to sell it in the UK and Ireland for £400.
Dr McKeown said: “After gathering feedback from thousands of slim device users around the world, what we found was that improved sleep was a welcomed bonus reaction and this became our motivation for making specific changes to our technology to create Modius Sleep.
“Our new headset taps into the power of the brain’s hypothalamus, which acts as a mini computer and influences many areas of the brain, including weight loss and sleep. Our continued aim is to help people avoid sedatives and sleeping pills as they only mask the underlying problem and come with a host of nasty side effects.
“We use neuroscience to improve lives through safe, innovative, non-invasive products and we have complete confidence our sleep device is just as life changing as our slim device continues to be.”
