Leading deeptech venture capital firm IQ Capital promotes Jo Slota-Newson to Principal

Cambridge, UK, 13 April 2021 – Jo is a core member of IQ Capital’s team and has worked with a number of companies in its deeptech portfolio. She works closely with with Porotech, Cambridge GaN Devices, Closed Loop Medicine and Nyobolt.

Jo brings very broad and deep experience to her collaboration with the entrepreneurs she supports. She has more than 14 years of experience working in technology commercialisation across technical, commercial and investment roles. Prior to joining IQ Capital, she was Investment Manager at Mercia Asset Management. She was also CTO and Operations Lead for an early-stage photovoltaics company, where she managed industrial collaborations, launched new products, and oversaw sales to major UK corporates. Jo also co-founded an online equity investment platform to syndicate deals in the Life Sciences and Biotech sectors, supporting early-stage ventures with promising technical solutions in identified target markets.

Jo holds an MA and MSci in Natural Sciences and a PhD in Nanoscience from the University of Cambridge. She started her career as a research scientist at the University of Cambridge, and then as a lecturer in biomedical engineering and renewable energy technologies at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Jo holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, and is a member of the CFA Institute, London. She is also a Trustee and serves on the Finance Committee of the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation, overseeing financial management and their investment policy. This proactive community and philanthropic leader is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people in Cambridgeshire through grants awarded to local charitable causes.
