Spectral Edge launches Vividteq – brings HDR-like experiences to existing TVs

Showcases full suite of colour filters for broadcast industry at IBC 2017
Cambridge, UK and Amsterdam, Netherlands, 7 September 2017: Spectral Edge (www.spectraledge.co.uk) today released Vividteq, a unique colour filter technology that dynamically improves image quality and enables service providers to deliver HDR-like experiences to their premium subscribers, with no need to replace or update customer equipment.
While High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology promises more vivid pictures with greater colour depth, most existing TVs and set top boxes simply don’t support it, holding back adoption by pay-TV and OTTtv service providers.
Vividteq overcomes this challenge. Deployed within the broadcast head-end or Content Delivery Network (CDN), it extracts and enhances live TV or VoD in real-time on a frame by frame basis using Spectral Edge’s unique Phusion image processing technology to produce an enhanced feed, suitable for broadcast via terrestrial, cable, satellite or IPTV channels. This delivers sharper, crisper images with greater colour contrast and ranges, providing subscribers with a premium HDR-like service, dynamically adapting to different TV genres, such as sport, drama or documentaries.
