IONATE is developing smart digital transformers for the power grid that will both save energy and ensure a consistent power supply to critical assets.
IONATE is commercialising a breakthrough in grid-scale power transformer design, bringing to market the world's first Hybrid Intelligent Transformer (HIT). The HIT is a drop-in replacement for existing transformers across the existing electricity grid. Once installed, the IONATE software platform manages each device and orchestrates the network of connected devices. This allows operators to dynamically control power flows through the network in a way that was not previously possible, providing an increase in reliability and efficiency to the grid.
IONATE was founded in Edinburgh in 2019 by Matthew Williams (CEO), Robert Ricci (CFO), and Luca Mezossy-Dona (Head of Strategic Engagement).
