QuantumDiamonds is providing a fundamentally new diagnostic tool to the semiconductor industry which will facilitate the next decade of advancements in integrated circuits.
QuantumDiamonds is developing quantum sensing technology for the semiconductor industry based on nitrogen-vacancy centres in diamond. Their diamonds and metrology systems can detect defects and faults with a wide field of view at an unprecedented speed, even deep within the semiconductor structure. This will ultimately allow their customers to reduce development time, improve yield, and improve advanced packaging and integration technologies that will in turn enable the next generation of semiconductor chips.
In October 2024, QuantumDiamonds successfully launched the QD m.0 - their first product and the first commercial quantum sensing device designed specifically for the semiconductor industry. QuantumDiamonds are now working with several major semiconductor companies, including NXP, Infineon and TSMC to further develop their technology.
QuantumDiamonds is based in Munich and spun out from TUM in 2022, founded by Kevin Berghoff (CEO) and Dr Flemming Bruckmaier (CTO).
