Kerry Baldwin is Co-Founder and Managing Partner at IQ Capital. She has worked as a deep tech venture capitalist since 1998 and specialises in the commercialisation of spinouts to scaleup stages for deep tech companies.
Kerry started as an Investment Manager at Venture Technologies a $50m VC fund backing deep tech of the future including funding the Late Mike Lynch with his first million for NeuroDynamics and further funding the business as it became Autonomy through to listing. Venture Technologies had numerous international exits and IPOs with their deep tech investments and top decile performance. Kerry then joined an Italian VC where she looked after the Nordics and the UK. She was recognised as one of the youngest Venture Capital Partners in Europe at 25 years old managing a fund of £150m in 2000 prior to establishing IQ Capital with Max and Ed.
Kerry is a member of IQ Capital’s Investment Committee and focusses on governance outside her portfolio investment commitments. She is currently a director for Risilience, BMLL Technologies, Oxford Space Systems, Cybsafe, Neurovalens and NuQuantum and works across the IQC portfolio assisting with deep tech go-to-market strategies and heads up the Defence and National Security investment portfolio.
She is a Non-Exec Investment Committee Member for British Patient Capital covering Series B+ investments across life science, deep tech and the FutureFund:Breakthrough programme. Kerry is a member of the Competitiveness Advisory Board for The City of London Corporation and is a member of the Board of Governors at Plymouth University, globally leading in maritime defence and engineering and sustainability. She is a Steering Committee Member with the Royal Academy of Engineering for their scale up programmes and is a regular mentor to new fund managers and diverse talent within the ecosystem.
Kerry has been active in advancing the understanding of deep tech and venture capital at the heart of government during her position as Chair of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital, and is currently driving The Mansion House Pension reform as the Chair of the Mansion House Pensions and Private Capital Expert Panel and member of the Mansion House Forum.
Kerry won the prestigious Allstars European Investor of the Year in 2023 and is an Honorary Fellow at Cambridge University Business School.
